What is Copywriting

What is copywriting

Let’s consider a salesperson named John who wants to sell a product or service for his company.

So he is writing a typical email that sounds like this:

Dear Mr. Client,

I really want money from you. So please buy my products.

Our products are good and we are dedicated to strong customer support loyalty and recognize the importance of customer care and we are here to help you implement your organizational needs.

Sincerely,

John

Now, why would someone read this email? It’s just Ask Ask Ask. There is nothing in for Mr. Client for this email.

Mr. Client’s response will be like this, “This email is a huge waste of my time. Let me put him in spam”

Now John learned something called copywriting, read some books, and rewrite the email.

Here’s what it sounds like:

Subject: Cut your HTX costs

Hey Mr. Client,

I figured out a way to cut your HTX costs by at least 55%.

I attach this report that shows your company will easily save 55% by sourcing your granite from a closer location. I found 3 vendors close by.

Email me back if you want some more vendor recommendations.

Sincerely,

John

Notice here, John is not asking here anything. He is providing value first. He is giving Mr. Client a recommendation on how he can reduce costs for his company.

Now when Mr. client is reading this email, he will think like this:

“More awesome recommendations on how to reduce my company’s costs? Yes Please”

So John gets a reply from Mr. client and closes the deal.

By changing the email John was easily able to get more open rates which resulted in more sales and more profits.

That’s what copywriting is, it is changing copy in your landing page, emails or ads that will provide value, grab your clients attention, and make them purchase your service.
